JAMES OHLIGER III , MD

Dr. James Ohliger III is a Lorain county native. He completed his fellowship in Orthopedic surgery sports medicine in Lake Tahoe, California and is returning home to practice in northeast Ohio. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron and his medical degree at West Virginia University School of Medicine. Following completion of medical school, he completed orthopedic surgery residency training at Summa Health in Akron, OH.
During his fellowship in Lake Tahoe, California he focused his time on new advanced techniques associated with minimally invasive procedures. He has advanced training in arthroscopic shoulder, knee and ankle procedures as well as robotic joint replacements. He is an active team physician for the USA Ski and Snowboard teams. He travels internationally as the team physician for these Olympic athletes. He has presented nationally at a multitude of conferences and is well published in orthopedic surgery.
His surgical practice includes fracture care, arthroscopic procedures of shoulder, knee and ankle joints as well as joint replacements of the shoulder, hip and knee. Acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries ranging from those sustained while playing sports to chronic conditions such as arthritis are his expertise.
His father James E Ohliger Jr has been practicing family medicine in northeast Ohio for over 30 years. He decided to follow his footsteps in the field of medicine. “Growing up and watching my father practice I have learned to always put the patient first. This exposure has provided me with upmost appreciation for my patients. My goal as an orthopedic surgeon is to educate patients about treatment options whether it be surgical and nonsurgical modalities. Together we will come to a treatment plan that will be individualized based on patient activities, goals of return and many other factors.”
